Ryan and Kris' Tuscany Wedding

Kris was such a fun bride to work with and her taste for bright colors was a great way to end the summer. The pinks and greens she chose really brightened up the outdoor patio at Tuscany. The DJ kept the dancing crowd entertained and thanks to Ryan's grandmother, I don't think any of the women left without a flower in their hand (except maybe me, ha!).

To really bring attention and color to the aisle and ceremony, we tied small bouquets of roses, gerbera daisies and bells of ireland to the chairs with satin ribbon. We also decorated Tuscany's iron arch with a garland of bay leaf, myrtle, roses, calla lilies and Kris' favorite, gerbera daisies.

This is the only picture I got of Kris' bouquet. It was all shades of pink roses, calla lilies, and gerbera daisies atop a background of lime green hydrangea, roses and cymbidiums. This picture does show how fantastic she looked in her dress though ;)

I just love how lush and green the Patio of Tuscany is in the summer. Perfect for an outdoor summer wedding!

Dining table centerpieces matched her bouquet with pink gerberas and roses paired with green hydrangea, roses and orchids. The addition of grass and berries, gave them a garden feel.

These fantastic place cards by Wedding Paper Divas matched her invitations.

The cake was placed on top of a bed of wheatgrass (again, for that garden feel) and decorated with hydrangea and gerberas.

Alta Club Wedding

A friend of mine from Chicago came back to Salt Lake in August to get married at the Alta Club. The wedding was a lot of fun and the bride looked beautiful!! Their colors were a bright yellow and a purple/fuschia. It was a perfect combination for a summer wedding! So, here are a few pictures...

I had never done a wedding at the Alta Club before this, and it was really great and the staff were so helpful! It's always fun to try a new venue.

Each centerpiece consisted of yellow roses, spray roses, lilies, calla lilies, tulips, freesia and flax. They looked great placed next to the sunny windows in the dining room.

I wish I had a better picture of this. The cake by One Sweet Slice was beautiful, and my picture is not doing it any sort of justice. Sorry!

I was in love with the way her bouquet turned out. The purple phaleonopsis orchids looked perfect paired with the purple tulips and yellow roses, calla lilies and freesia.

Headstart Bloom

I worked for Salt Lake CAP Headstart through college and a little after I graduated. I mostly did Public Relations, but every once in a while, an event would come up that my boss and I would plan. My last year working for Headstart, I had the privilege of planning their very first fundraiser gala, The Bloom, at La Caille. Since then, the Bloom has become a large success and a popular event among Salt Lake City's favorite fundraisers and auctions.

This year I was asked by the organization's director, Erin Trenbeath, to be a part of the planning committee. I happily accepted the offer. I was also able to donate my time by arranging all the centerpieces for the 5th Annual Headstart Bloom. It was so much fun to attend the event again, they put on such a great program and auction.

I didn't get very many pictures, but here is one of the centerpieces. Each one had a bottle of wine and a $50 La Caille gift certificate for purchasing.

Greta & David

I met Greta at a family wedding back in February that I had helped with.  We instantly bonded and discussed all the vendors she was looking at for her upcoming wedding.  Much to my surprise, by Monday, I had received an email from her asking if I was interested in joining her list of vendors with my flowers and coordination.
So, a few weekends ago her and David had a small wedding ceremony in Red Butte Garden's Fragrance Garden.  The ceremony was beautiful and was followed by a great luncheon reception in the Orangarie.  Here are a few pictures from the reception:

For half of the centerpieces, we used a mixture of flowers including hydrangea, cymbidium orchids, kale, roses and her family flower, irises.

For the other half, we did a shorter vase filled with moss, lisianthus, roses and cymbidium orchids.  Also, every table had a plate of these huge SQUARE cupcakes, for desert.  They were delicious!

Red Butte's Orangarie is one of my favorite reception sites in Salt Lake, it is so beautiful.  And, I love how purple looks in there!

Greta made the seating cards herself, which I think turned out great.

This was such a neat napkin fold and each one held a seating card for each guest.  I should also mention that Utah Food Services catered the reception as well as provided the beautiful violet linens.

Greta's bouquet was purple hydrangea surrounded by a layer of fragrant lavender, purple roses and a collar of lamb's ear.

Since each table already had cupcakes for desert, they had a small square cake placed atop a tall vase filled with green cymbidium orchids.  This cake and the cupcakes were made by Janell at One Sweet Slice.

Greta surprised David with this groom's cake.  (Yes, that is all cake!) She also had all the wait-staff wearing the same ball caps throughout the event.  It was such a cute personal touch! This was made by Lisa Evans.  (I have her info if you are interested in having her make a cake for your event)

I just love this picture.  She made such a beautiful bride.

Couples Baby Shower

Couple's wedding showers have been around for a while now, but now couple's baby showers are getting more and more popular. This is a fun way to include the expecting father and allow his friends to help him celebrate the new addition. Recently, I was lucky enough to help host a Couple's Baby Shower for some of our close friends, Saul and Ericka.  So, I thought I would share a few of the detail pictures from it.  Enjoy!

A larger floral arrangement adds some pink decor to the appetizer table.

Although a bit time-consuming, adding special touches (such as cocktail garnishes here) will catch your guests' attention and can help reiterate your party's theme or colors.

A simple centerpiece in pink hydrangea, roses and tulips.

Don't throw away your extra flowers, use them to make small arrangements for the buffet, restroom or on an entry table.

Carrying out a long tradition of cigars for the father-to-be will keep the men entertained as the women open gifts and small talk about all things baby.

Britt's Wedding

This weekend was my first wedding under Kennedy & Co.!!
One of my pledge sisters from college, Britt, called me a  few months ago about planning her wedding, and she only had 2 months to get everything done.  So after several brainstorming sessions together, we pulled off a beautiful day for her.  She looked so amazing in her wedding gown and the SL Hardware Building was a perfect setting for her contemporary taste.
It was so great to see a bunch of old friends and to help a sister out on one of the most exciting days of her life!!
I didn't have a ton of time to take pictures and I really need to get better at photographing flowers, so bare with me :)  Hopefully I can get some better ones from the photographer!

Britt loved tulips and calla lilies, so we used them everywhere we could and made them stand on their own rather than loosing them within a typical arrangement.

Her mother made brown satin runners for all the tables.  Since her colors were chocolate brown, white and a deep red, we added dark red dahlias, calla lilies and roses to hydrangea in a glass vase lined with green and red leaves.

She liked the idea of having all the centerpieces different for each table.

Britt also loves hydrangea, so we paired it with her other favorites, calla lilies and tulips, for every other table arrangement.

Kennedy & Co. Events is now OPEN for Business!!

My name is Emily Kennedy and after much deliberation, recently decided to open my own business in Wedding and Event Coordination/Design.
After I graduated from the University of Utah in Public Relations, I went to work for a few companies in their Public Relations and Marketing Departments until I realized that I really didn't enjoy all the writing I had studied in school :) But, I did LOVE the events and promotions I was planning in the PR world. Then, after planning my own wedding in 2006, I realized that I was actually very organized and LOVED the feeling after creating an enjoyable event. So, in 2007, I went to work for a local event production company and learned a ton about flowers and the actual design of an event. After almost 2 years, the company was forced to make "budget cuts" and I was laid-off. Which, brings us to NOW!
I do not have a website yet, so I plan to use this blog to show off some of my talents and to give you some insight on not only weddings (though there will be LOTS of that) but also tips and tricks for entertaining on your own.
Please forward my information on if you or someone you know may be interested in talking to me about an upcoming event.
My email is emily@kennedyandcompanyevents.com.
